Join members of the Neshaminy Creek Watershed Alliance and Heritage Conservancy for a presentation by Stroud Water Research Center’s Kristen Travers on their comprehensive water quality assessment of the steams of the county. Learn how local streams and river ecosystems have changed over the past 30 years since the passage of the Clean Water Act. The meeting will also include updates from municipal, county, and state representatives on current and planned activities in the watershed as well as the Conservancy’s compilation of major recommendations from various watershed studies completed in the Neshaminy. Cooks Creek Beginners Fly Fishing Workshop

Heritage Conservancy, Bucks County Trout Unlimited and Cooks Creek Watershed Association present a three-hour fishing workshop to teach the basics of fly fishing. Four 45 minute workshop stations will include equipment and knot tying, fly tying, stream biology and casting techniques. Recommended for ages 10 to adult. Registration is required. A Cultural History of the Quakertown Swamp

Heritage Conservancy and West Rockhill Historical Society are pleased to present a look back at the important role Quakertown Swamp has played in shaping the lives of the people living within its boundaries. David Kimmerly, historic preservation specialist with Heritage Conservancy, will invite guests to follow the path of the swamp’s history and the tremendous influence it has had on its residents from the time of Native Americans and early settlers who called the area the “Great Swamp” through the 20th Century. Learn about the swamp’s unique geology, natural resources and cultural landscapes and the region’s important industries including pottery, quarrying, hunting, fishing and trapping. Barn Architecture and Barn Preservation Options
LOCATION: Indenhofen Farmstead in Evansburg State Park, corner of Route 73 and Evansburg Road, Skippack, Pa

Learn the distinguishing characteristics of barns from the early 18th century through the early 20th century in southeastern PA and the variety of methods that are being used to preserve these rural gems. Jeffrey L. Marshall, Heritage Conservancy’s Vice President of Resource Protection will give a presentation on the book, “ The Barns of Bucks County” which he co-authored with Willis M. Rivinus. Mr. Marshall will use the book's highly illustrated text to present the variety of barn types found throughout the southeast region and discuss the common barn construction features and different types of timber framing techniques that were used to create these castles in the fields.
