Public Comment Sought for Heritage Conservancy's Application for Accreditation to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission
Heritage Conservancy Seeks Public Input for Accreditation Application Process
Nonprofit organizations across the nation, including land trusts, are increasingly asked to demonstrate their accountability to the public. The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, fosters accountability by relying on multiple sources of data in making accreditation decisions, including comments from the public that relate to established accreditation indicator practices.
Heritage Conservancy has applied for accreditation, and our application for accreditation has been received by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. As part of the application process, the Commission encourages and accepts signed, written comments from the public on pending applications.
Comments must relate to Heritage Conservancy's compliance with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see www.lta.org/accreditation/practices.htm.
To learn more about the accreditation program and to submit a comment, visit www.landtrustaccreditation.org. Comments may also be faxed or mailed to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, Attn: Public Comments: (fax) 518-587-3183; (mail) 112 Spring St., Suite 204, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Comments on Heritage Conservancy's application will be most useful by December 5, 2007.
