Route 113 Heritage Corridor Driving Tour

Frankenfield Bridge

Tinicum Township, Bucks County

A trip on Rt. 113 wouldn't be complete without a visit up to Tinicum Township to traverse the historic Frankenfield Bridge. Reputed to be the longest covered bridge in Bucks County, the Frankenfield Bridge was built in 1872 by David Sutton of Town Truss Design. Of the 26 covered bridges built in Bucks County, it is one of only eleven remaining.

Covered bridges have historically been called "kissing" or "wishing" bridges because couples used the shaded passages to steal a kiss or make a wish before entering a new bridge for the first time. Come make your wish on the charming Frankenfield covered bridge!
