Corporate Volunteer Groups Lend A Hand

Volunteers, whether they help out individually or in a group, are vital to the mission of any nonprofit. We are thankful for everyone that contributes their time and energy to a good cause, and we certainly appreciate the companies that encourage their employees to do community service! These volunteer activities help to give back to the communities that the businesses cater to, and they also serve as team builders for the employees themselves.

Many corporate groups return annually to volunteer with Heritage Conservancy, and some have been new this year–we hope to see them again in the future! Here are a few of the companies that have joined us recently to help out with projects and events.

ION Group – International JAVA Developer and Trading Technologies
The ION Group has offices in many different countries and had employees visiting the Horsham branch from several of their international offices. We had 17 employees from this fantastic company join us on April 12th to participate in Fridays in the Forest. Working with the Heritage Conservancy stewardship team, the group completed maintenance tasks at our King Farm Preserve–this involved removing vines, invasive plants, and dead trees from the hedgerow at this property. We are so glad that the employees of ION Group voted to make working with Heritage Conservancy one of their three allotted service days of 2019!

Hertz
The Bucks County Hertz Rental Car main office set a goal to donate 60 hours of volunteer time in the month of April. Toward that end, seven employees from various Hertz locations throughout Bucks County joined us for our annual Mulch Madness event at Aldie Mansion on April 16th. They were a hard-working bunch that helped us spread 49 yards of mulch in record time. Even after the mulch was spread, they stayed at the mansion to assist with additional garden cleanup projects. Talk about going the extra mile!

Reed Tech
Reed Tech has participated in our Mulch Madness event ever years since its inception (this was its fifth year), and each year, they are an enthusiastic, hard-working group. Their consistent dedication to Heritage Conservancy won them the Corporate Group of the Year Award at our Volunteer Appreciation Event this year. Well deserved!

NJM Insurance
NJM found Heritage Conservancy through VolunteerMatch. On April 22nd, they sent six volunteers to the Bristol Marsh Nature Preserve to assist with our Earth Day cleanup. Based on the fun experience they had at this event, they are eager to return and help again next year!

DOW Chemical
Because of DOW Chemical’s relationship to both our Bristol Marsh Nature Preserve and Croydon Woods Nature Preserve, their volunteers have been a regular presence at cleanups at those sites. For the Earth Day cleanup this year, they sent eight volunteers, including their Croydon and Bristol site manager and the global head of employee engagement. Their steadfast volunteer efforts are always appreciated.
