SUMMARY:In the Zone\, Part 1: Seeing the Forest for the Water - POSTPONED
DESCRIPTION:In the Zone: A Two-Part Exploration of Riparian Buffers\nPOSTPONED to SPRING\nat Tinicum Township\nDid you know that Pennsylvania’s woods have over 85\,500 miles of streams within the state’s boundaries? Our forest ecosystems and freshwater ecosystems are completely entangled with each other. Understanding the impact of forest management on water quality is hugely important to responsibly caring for the land. \nJoin the Master Watershed Stewards for a picnic and nature talk about riparian buffers\, their importance\, and their ecology. Set in scenic preserved and private land in Tinicum Township\, the exact address will be provided after registration. Expect some steep slopes. Please carpool if possible. \n\nThis event is the first of Heritage Conservancy’s 2-part series of in-person classes about riparian buffers. \nIf you would like to be added to the waitlist\, please contact Katie Toner at ktoner@heritageconservancy.org. \nRegistration fees: $10 for conservation easement landowners and active supporters\, $30 for the general public. \nFor further info or questions\, contact Katie Toner at ktoner@heritageconservancy.org\, or 215-345-7020 ext. 106 \nFor information regarding event policies\, click here. \n

DESCRIPTION:In the Zone: A Two-Part Exploration of Riparian Buffers\nPOSTPONED to SPRING\nat Columcille Megalith Park | 2155 Fox Gap Road\, Bangor\, PA\nThe plants growing in and around our ponds\, streams\, and wetlands are vital to the broader ecosystem. But new challenges – from introduced pests and diseases to climate change – threaten their survival. In the face of these challenges\, how can we help these plant communities thrive? \nLearn about establishing and maintaining riparian forests with Conservation Easement Stewards Sebastian Harris and Katie Toner. Plus\, get hands-on experience planting and protecting tree saplings. We’ll be gathering and planting at Columcille Megalith Park\, a sprawling park that brings together wildlife habitat and Celtic-inspired art\, protected in perpetuity by a conservation easement. Please carpool if possible. \n\nThis event is the second of Heritage Conservancy’s 2-part series of in-person classes about riparian buffers. (Register for one or both.) \nIf you would like to be added to the waitlist\, please contact Katie Toner at ktoner@heritageconservancy.org.
