Friday, March 29th
6:30 PM to 7:30 PM (Twilight)
At a preserved property in the Quakertown Swamp area
Meeting location to be determined
Join Heritage Conservancy staff and witness the ritual mating flight of the American woodcock as it spirals higher and higher, twittering louder and louder until it finally turns and tumbles back with a soft liquid warble before swooping to its original dance floor, and there resumes his peenting (Aldo Leopold). We may need to hike for a half-mile or so depending on whether the birds cooperate or not. Be prepared for cold weather and hiking on uneven surfaces–good rubber boots and binoculars will make this hike even more enjoyable!
$5 for members; $10 for non-members ($10 can be applied toward a membership). Contact Emily at 215-345-7020 ext. 107 or ehart@heritageconservancy.org to register.
