Learning Beyond the Classroom
Heritage Conservancy engages students of all ages in the natural world, helping ignite an appreciation for nature and a sense of environmental stewardship in the next generation.
Students participate in our nature education programs each year
Our environmental education programs reach about 3,000 students in classrooms across Bucks County.
We offer resources for teachers and parents: training and lesson ideas that support natural sciences, environmental literacy, watershed education, and social and emotional learning. Our diverse program offerings support school curriculum and state standards while engaging students in hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
Learning Beyond the Classroom: School Programs
Imagine your classroom outdoors with students exploring environmental phenomena, observing habitats and biodiversity, assessing the human impacts in their own community, and considering solutions.
Heritage Conservancy’s school and youth programs provide interactive learning opportunities. Students engage in activities on their school grounds, in their classroom, or at one of our local nature preserves. Programs support student learning that aligns with Environmental Literacy and Sustainability Standards and much more.
Learning Beyond the Classroom: At Home
A vital part of our environmental education efforts includes and involves the families of students. Nearly all of Heritage Conservancy’s education and youth programs include additional information that students can share with their adults afterwards. This encourages follow-up, with useful resources to help the kids share and further their learning, whether it is information about a local hiking spot or ideas to bring new conservation practices to the household.
