Retirees Vicky and John Garrison were looking for an organization where they could give back to their community while spending time outdoors. They found that opportunity in our “Fridays in the Forest” volunteer group.

This dedicated team joins Heritage Conservancy staff once a week to work at our preserved properties, completing invasive species removal, trail clearing, trash removal, and other essential land management work.

“We learn so much about the local flora and fauna every time we’re out with staff members Jim and Tyler,” says John.

For the Garrisons, Fridays in the Forest offers them an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the local ecosystem while connecting with nature and fellow volunteers.
