Nature in 100 Words or Less: Our Micro-Writing Contest Winners

The Community Outreach team at Heritage Conservancy recently challenged writers of all ages from Lower Bucks County to capture nature in 100 words or less. We received over 70 entries, compelling narratives, evocative poems, and thought-provoking prose that impressed our judges.

We had so many entries, it was hard to choose just one from each age group. Judges from Heritage Conservancy and Bucks County Writers rated our finalists on creativity, evocative language, and adherence to our theme of local nature.

On Saturday, January 13, we gathered at the beautiful Grundy Library in Bristol to celebrate our authors. A number of young writers read their poems and prose aloud, dazzling the crowd. Here are the winners.

Best Kid Nature Micro-Writer (ages 6-10)

Best Youth Nature Micro-Writer (ages 11-13)

Best Teen Nature Micro-Writer (ages 14-17)

Best Adult Nature Micro-Writer (age 18 and up)

Special thanks to Grundy Library for hosting us, Bucks County Writers for their help with the judging, Papa’s Pretzel Place in Bristol for providing refreshments, and other local businesses who donated prizes: Bristol Riverside Theatre, King George’s Inn, and Legacy Barber Lounge in Croydon.

If you were a winner who did not attend the event, please reach out to us directly so we can coordinate the delivery of your prize.

Thank you to all of our writers. If you haven’t tried to capture nature in 100 words or less, we encourage you to give it a go!
