Located in Buckingham Township, PA, Heritage Conservancy’s Jackson Pond Preserve serves as a wonderful example of the Conservancy’s mission in action. With its diverse habitat and abundant plant and animal life, this 10-acre preserve consists of farmland, woodlands, and a pond, and it is an excellent site for educational field trips with local schools as well as engagement events like Farm to Table that help to raise awareness of the importance of protecting our natural resources. There is a small trail at Jackson Pond Preserve that allows public enjoyment of the sights and sounds of the property.

With support from PECO, Heritage Conservancy has completed work on a 4-acre pollinator meadow at Jackson Pond Preserve. It will be bursting with blooms and bees this summer and every summer after. Pollinator species (such as bees and butterflies) support nearly 40% of the world’s food crop production, and many of our vital pollinators are threatened with extinction. This meadow will provide habitat for all aspects of a pollinator’s life cycle; it will become a destination for community members to view and enjoy our native wildlife: and it will serve to educate the general public concerning the importance of pollinators to human foods. Heritage Conservancy staff also installed a native tree and shrub hedgerow that will help support the pollinators early in the season when most perennial plants are still dormant.
