Save the Monarchs Native Plant Sale

July 10, 5:30 – 6:30 PM at Russell-Mandel Preserve: 1515 Holicong Rd, Buckingham, PA

Join us at Russell-Mandel Preserve for a native plant and milkweed sale hosted by Heritage Conservancy’s conservation interns.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the ecological role of native plants and pollinators, explore our 5-acre pollinator meadow, and meet the interns working hands-on to support conservation this summer. Multiple species of milkweed and other native plants will be available for purchase, which are all vital to maintaining healthy, biodiverse ecosystems.

Plants: $10 each (cash only)
All proceeds support Heritage Conservancy’s mission

Pollinator & Photography Workshop

Thursday, July 24, 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm at Jackson Pond Preserve: Forest Grove, PA

Join Heritage Conservancy Land Conservation Manager Jim Drennan and photographer Barry Rauhauser for a walk through Heritage Conservancy’s Jackson Pond Preserve.

During our guided walk through the pollinator meadow, we will observe native plants and trees. Jim will discuss their benefits to our ecosystem and wildlife. Barry will share his nature photography expertise and offer tips on how to take the perfect photograph within this beautiful landscape.

All levels of photographers and hikers are welcome! Bring your own camera if you have one or use your phone’s camera.

Croydon Woods Nature Backpack Walk

Friday, August 1st, 5:30 – 7:00 PM, Croydon Woods Nature Preserve: 1900 Summit Ave, Croydon, PA

Come explore Croydon Woods Preserve with Heritage Conservancy and try out the new and improved Nature Backpacks, available for check-out at Grundy Memorial Library!

Is
that a Bluebird? Use the binoculars to take a closer look!

On our walk, we will learn about the habitats and wildlife in Croydon Woods and how kids and adults alike can protect this ecosystem. Stay after the walk for snacks and an interactive nature exploration card game found in the backpacks, Aqua Marooned!

We will walk for approximately 30 minutes on the main trail which is a dirt path with small ruts and roots and little to no incline. There are benches along the trail. All ages and abilities welcome! 

Kids and family backpack walk: 5:30pm start time

Young adults and adult backpack walk: 6:30pm start time

Nature Art Journal with Artist Jane Ramsey

Thursday, August 7, 10:00 – 11:30 am at Aldie Mansion and its gardens: 85 Old Dublin Pike, Doylestown

Learn how to become a nature artist!

Join local artist Jane Ramsey on the grounds of Historic Aldie Mansion for a kid-friendly nature journaling lesson and tour. Kids will walk through the property and learn to identify and draw what they see. Journals and colored pencils will be provided. All ages are welcome; however, we do recommend that this event is suitable for ages 5 and up.

Registration is $25 per family and includes all materials for the participating children, who can take home their journals and colored pencils and continue working on them. Parents must remain at Aldie with their children for this event.

Mushroom ID Walk

Friday, August 29, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm at Croydon Woods Nature Preserve, Croydon, PA

Join Philadelphia Mycology Club President Sam Bucciarelli and Heritage Conservancy’s Conservation Easement Steward Sebastian Harris to explore and ID the mushrooms within Croydon Woods Nature Preserve. Located less than half a mile from the Delaware River, Croydon Woods is one of the last remaining coastal plain forests in southeastern Pennsylvania. The preserve is home to over 350 species of plants, mammals, reptiles, birds, and insects, including endangered plant species.

Sebastian will share information about the forest, and Sam will guide us along the trail, stopping along the way to identify and share information about the mushrooms we spot.

Please dress for the weather, and wear hiking or walking shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Long pants, tall socks, and long-sleeve shirts are recommended. This event is rain or shine unless there is severe weather in the forecast.

Registration $10 for members | $15 for non-members.
